What size floor guide fits my door?
Floor guides are sized by the thickness of the door, not by its width or its height. Two measurements decide which bracket you need: how thick the door is, and how far the bottom of the door sits above the finished floor.
Measure the door thickness
- Slide the door clear of the jamb so you can reach its bottom edge.
- Lay a tape across the bottom edge, face to face. Measure the door itself, not a trim piece, a pull, or a rubber sweep.
- Read it to the nearest 1/16 in. Most bypass closet doors come in at 1-3/8 in., which is 35 mm.
Measure the gap under the door
- Close the door and measure from the finished floor up to the bottom edge.
- Do this on the finished floor you will actually have. If flooring is going in next week, measure after it goes down.
- A guidepost has to reach up past that gap before it starts holding the door. If the gap grew after a flooring change, you need a guide whose height you can set. Seemy closet door came off the track after new flooring.

When the measurement is not the problem
- The door rubs the floor. The door is too tall for the finished floor. Trim the bottom of the door. No size of guide fixes that.
- The door binds in one spot. That is the track or a roller. Measure nothing until that is fixed.
- The doors overlap unevenly. The hangers are at different heights. Level the door first, then fit the guide.
