Which floor guide do I need?

Six brackets. Which one you need comes down to the type of door, how thick it is, and where you can put screws. Read the list first, then check the table.

Start here

  • If your door is a bypass closet door 1-3/8 in. thick and the floor has not changed, use theCloset Door Guide Bracket.
  • If new flooring left the old guide too short to hold the door, use theUniversal Adjustable Height bracketand snap it to the height you need.
  • If your closet door is not a standard thickness, use the3-Roller closet guide. Its guidepost width adjusts.
  • If it is a pocket door, use the Pocket Door Guide. It mounts on the jamb, so nothing sits in the doorway.
  • If it is a barn door and you can put screws in the floor, use theBarn Door Floor Guide Bracket. The brackets space to fit the door and the screws stay hidden.
  • If it is a barn door and you do not want holes in the floor, use theBarn Door Floor Roller Guide. It mounts to the wall or baseboard and fits doors 3/8 in. to 1-15/16 in. thick.

When none of these is the answer

  • A door that rubs the floor is too tall for the finished floor. Trim the bottom of the door.
  • A door that binds or jumps in one spot has a track or roller problem. Fix that before adding hardware at the floor.

Common questions

Which guide fits a standard bypass closet door?
The Closet Door Guide Bracket. It fits standard 1-3/8 in. thick sliding closet doors and mounts to the floor with counter-sunk screw holes.
Which guide should I use after a flooring change?
The Universal Adjustable Height bracket. Snap notches let you set the height on the job, so the guidepost still reaches the bottom of the door after the finished floor height changes.
Which guides are sold in pairs?
The Pocket Door Guide and the Barn Door Floor Guide Bracket are sold in pairs, one bracket per side. The other four are sold as single brackets.
Which guide does not need holes in the floor?
The Barn Door Floor Roller Guide mounts to the wall or the baseboard with two screws, and the Pocket Door Guide mounts on the jamb. Neither one is fastened to the floor.
